Is UtilityPilot really free?

Yes. Our comparison service is 100% free for Australian households. We're paid a commission by the energy retailer when a customer chooses to switch through us, exactly like an insurance broker. You never pay UtilityPilot.

Do you compare every energy retailer?

No. We don't compare every retailer or every plan available in the Australian market. We work with a panel of major and established retailers through our partner network. You should always consider your own needs and may want to review additional options from sources like Energy Made Easy (energymadeeasy.gov.au) or Victorian Energy Compare.

Will you switch me without my permission?

Absolutely not. Nothing happens without your explicit consent. Any switch is confirmed directly with you and the retailer before it goes ahead, typically through a recorded verification call.

What information do you need from me?

To compare meaningfully we need your postcode and ideally a recent energy bill (or your usage in kWh and your current retailer). For the switch itself, the retailer will collect your full details and confirm them with you directly.

How is my personal information handled?

We follow the Australian Privacy Principles. Your details are only shared with the energy retailer(s) you choose to be connected with, and our partner Utility Market, who operates our retailer panel. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

What if I want to cancel after switching?

Energy contracts in Australia typically include a 10 business day cooling off period during which you can cancel without penalty. The retailer will confirm the specifics of your plan when you sign up.
